Need tips on what to do with this oddly put together HP Pavilion Elite e9260f

First, sorry for rambling on. this is a very urgent problem and i need to fix it ASAP. You guys always help me out here SO much and deserve a GIANT thank you.. I want to order the card tonight.

Okay so, I get the video card beep code whenever i turn on my computer. I popped the graphics card out and it gave the same beep code. So im pretty sure that my graphics card is dead. It is a NVIDIA GeForce GT230 made
by PEGATRON!!! Seems like a junky brand for the prices that these computers are selling for.(this one was 1000+).

So the power supply is only 350 watts (no clue how it runs this comp to be honest)lol

I do not have a way to test the graphics card in another desktop because im doing this VIA skype for my girl in San Diego. So, Im just doing the logical thing and having her order a graphics card and just go from there.


What would be THE best graphics card that would work in this PC. I want her to be able to run WoW at its highest potential. Unfortunately, she will not understand how to install a power supply so were gonna have to deal with a 350 watter. Very depressing, this computer has alot of potential

I cant figure out what the power supply will handle. if i could get a graphics card and just use the connector that takes 2 x 4 pins and turn it to a 6 that would be wonderful. Can someone tell me the best card that i could have her throw into this computer. also, it has to run off of HDMI. Unless there is some card that doesnt have HDMI and is completely amazing, I will just have her order a different cable. But any input would be amazing, I want to do overnight shipping and have it by tuesday.. Please help me out here.

not much you can run on a 350w psu, and a low end hp psu at that. The max you could probably use would be like a GT 640, it runs off the watt the PCI-e can handle, think it's like 90w. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121643
That should run wow fine, just be careful with the watt output that PSU is already being pushed.

read the reviews on this card and then look at the card im looking to buy. I dont think ill fit a double slot card in there or just dont want to. Im having her install it herself over skype and if i get this card and theres a problem itll be pretty embarrassing.


This is the one im looking to buy. can anyone tell me if theyve used this card on this computer, or find some way to see if it will work?

both of those 2 cards have identical specs. I really dont understand

bumping this thread. Wondering if the gt 640 will work in the machine or not? Did anyone read the review from the new egg stars? it says something like this card will not work in an HP.
