It is weird really that almost all new motherboards still rely on the 32 bit 33 Mhz PCI as primary expansion ports. These slots must be at least 10 years old by now.

PCI-X at 64 bit 133 Mhz should be standard by now....

Hmm, maybe not 10 years, but certainly close to that ... I remember that computers were still throwing in an ISA slot until just recently ... Hmm .... But you're right: with the rapid pace of advance in just about every other area, it's surprising that the PCI bus technology hasn't been replaced earlier! -- Paul
