Ok, looks like I'm on a roll here. I have a very old workstation here that runs our call accounting software. Its running on a Pentium III 800EB. The hard drive is a quantum 10gig drive with very little space left and has started the infamous hard drive wine.. I thought using the SYBA direct insert IDE to CF adapter would be a great test and solution. The system boots very quickly, and I feel that this system has many more years of operation with a "SSD" solution. Check out the pictures below...

I used Acronis True Image home 2013 to backup and restore to this device... Worked flawlessly. Acronis is nice because it aligns the drive for XP

Gah... is that really only ATA 33? If it is, and the thing has an open PCI slot, you may seriously benefit from a PCI ATA 100 controller.

If it isn't, then you may want to look at a different IDE adapter, because I have several of that exact CF card in some embedded systems, and they can perform way better than 27 MBps.

I don't need it for speed.. Just longevity. It just captures data via the serial port from the phone system for call accounting purposes. This computer can't die right now, but the hard drive sounds like it will, soon. I just changed it to prolong the computers life. I can't find IDE 20 gig drives anywhere. =)

The system runs very fast btw..
