Scratched Crystal Orb

I have been running with a COrb on my northbridge, and I'm very happy with the added cooling it provides. The problem is it has some small "scratches" underneath, and I was wondering if it is a good idea to use some fine sandingpaper and lap it? Has anyone else done this?

I also noticed the scratches. Should I lap my Corb?

I would its gonna take a long time to sand down to copper though.
