Soundstorm utility?

Okay, I've had this problem for a while, but every time I try and open up my Soundstorm utility thing, it comes up saying that the sndstrm.exe (or however they named it) has gotten errors or whatever and has been closed. Just the regular program closing error, I forget the exact wording.

Anyways, I've deleted and re-installed the software, and I've even reformatted the HD since the problem had started. I'm running XP Pro now.

Could this possibly be a hardware problem?

No I think this is software/driver related. Try downloading the 3.13Remix drivers for your motherboard. They clean up sound issues.
