week 10 malay
FPO/BATCH# L310A788
PACK DATE 05/13/2003

week 12 Costa Rica
FPO/BATCH# 3312A436
PACK DATE 06/04/2003

tried everything these chips jus won even do 3.5ghz stable. I got both of these from newegg. Should i try googlegear? Do ppo have more chance getting a good cpu from them??

My comp spec:

Abit IC7-G
OCZ Dual EL 256mb PC-3500 ram
Antec True Power 430W PS
Swiftech MCX4000 REV.2 W/ Vantec Tornado 92mm 119cfm fan

Thank you for all of your help.

You mean they won't do 3.5Ghz stable, right? (you said "2.5 stable").

Ugh, don't scare me man.. I am going out to buy a 2.8c tomorrow.. shooting for a bare minimum of 3.5Ghz.. hopefully more around the neighborhood of 4Ghz - I've built the rest of my hardware up anticpating this for the past 8 months.

Try to put the Vagp into bios at 1.65Volts and the AGP/PCI at 7:2:1.....Command per cicle should be Enable as well.... ;)

BTW......WELCOME to the forums......... :D

I don't see how you can claim they're "bad". If it's bad, it won't even run right at default. Remember, these are sold as 2.8 CPUs, not 3.6 CPUs. I have one just like the Malay CPU and I can do a stable 3.5 and an unstable 3.6 gig. Maybe you just haven't stumbled across the right settings combination yet.

Wayne, if your goal is 4 gig, you are probably going to be disappointed.

sorry i mean 3.5ghz

yea i mean bad as in bad ocer out of all the 2.8c in the overclocking world.

Yes, but remember, they are guranateed to run at 2.8GHz. Anything more is just free performance, but you can't really expect a certain o/c. It's all the luck of the draw and you probably got unlucky.

Well, I'll settle with 3.5.. but 4 would be nice..

A guy can dream can't he? heh

(I just got it, about to pop it in)

If I raise the PCI Frequency even 1MHz on my IC7-G, my RAID disappears. I don't know why, but it does. That's why I keep my AGP/PCI locked.

I have a Costa Rican 2.8C 06/04/03 (i'll have to see the FPO when I get home) and it's at 3.6 stable... but, I got it vapochilled running 1.675v on the core.

Well, I've got the CPU in my box now, running tests. Ran through a bit of Prime95 at stock speeds (just to be sure), then I bumped it right up to [email protected], 250FSB with 5:4 memory. CPU runs at 39c under load, 32c idle. Ambient temp feels about normal room temp. It's purring like a kitten so far. 3D Mark 2003 reports: 6381 - I got just over 6000 with my 2.4b CPU, stock speed with DDR333... is my Video card my bottleneck now?? (9800 Pro)

Running Prime95 now at stock speeds for a burn in, then I'll up it back to 3.5 in a few days and run it through Prime95 again.

P4c 2.8Ghz

Hmmm.. that's real nice.

Now, 3D Mark 2K3 isn't very CPU limited (yet) they created it so that it would stress the video card as much as possible while leaving the CPU out of it. Hence the name of a "video benchmark". If it were for the CPU too, it'd be called a System Bench.. much like what 3D Mark 2K1 turned into.

he meant bad overclocker CPU...remember, we're in a OC forum -a 2.4 that will only do 2.6 is a "bad" CPU...a 2.4 that can't do 2.4 is a "defective" CPU...

I've got a 3.0C and I can't go any higher than 3600 with 1.7 volts using water cooling. Shooting for 3.5 with a 2.4C and average cooling is unrealistic. 3.3-3.4 would be about average for that chip with standard cooling.

Thanks for all your reply.....hummm it seems like everyone is hitting 3.5 ghz at least wit their 2.8c...except me :(

No way dude.... it's just like in the casino's...

everywhere you look you see winners (or so it seems), the truth is, there are always far more loosers but they keep quiet so you can't see them.

Same with these oc's. Intel sells millions of these chips and really, how many wonderfull awesome overclocks have we seen. Most amazing oc's are even from the same persons (macci, hipro, viggen, fugger, oppainter, holck etc.)

well i guess back in the days of celeron 300A and P4 1.6A gave me alot of promisese on ocing intel cpus.
I mean i kno not all intel cpu are overclockable but they are those certain cpus that alot of ppo had "good luck" on like current 2.4c, 2.6c, and 2.8c??

Cause those are the people who do extreme mods and cooling... The "average" overclocker will strap on a HSF and hope to god it's good.
