I think there is not that much of difference between the pastes as long as it is not real crap. I applied some AS3 instead of the white stock paste which came with the HS and there was almost no difference in temps. I rather believe that AS3 helps generally because it has really good instructions in how you must apply the paste properly,
It helps because before we met AS3, most of us applied the stuff on their CPU like they would smear tanning milk on their butt(like me for example
PS. Of course it is a lot better then a pad no question.
