hey guys.
just installed w7 last week - w7 ultimate x64 to be exact.

it's running perfectly fine, except one VERY annoying problem that i'm having.
the new windows media player 12 built into w7 is really slow for me for some reason.
even when i just try to play the next song, the song won't load until 30 seconds later.
sometimes the interface also doesn't respond until after 10 seconds or so.
it's just really really slow...and i don't think it's my hardware.

3.2ghz e6400
4gb ocz reaper x
250gb seagate for os

anybody else experience this problem on w7?
and there's no more wmp toolbar...:bang head:

if there isn't a solution, can someone suggest a good music player for me?
other than iTunes...i just hate everything Apple makes so yeah :santa:

With WMP12 open, try rebuilding the media library (Tools | Advanced | Restore media library...)
mm tried that yesterday. didn't seem to solve the lag problem.
i think maybe it was just a dodgy install of windows 7.
i tried VLC but it just looks so plain :(
real player isn't cutting it for me either...
i may have to revert to iTunes...nooooo

God can't believe no one said winamp or songbird.

I recommend songbird, made by the folks at Mozilla. Got a fully working browser with extension support AND skins. Can't beat Mozilla :)
