I have

ASUS Z77V-PRO
3570k @ 4.4
G.Skill Ripjaws 1600MHz 4x4GB cas9

Can I just o/c RAM and not CPU somehow? I remember back in the days it wasn't possible. There is a menu for RAM in BIOS and I chose 1866 and changed RAM Volts to 1.65 and put cas 10-10-10-28. I could boot into Windows but any stress would freeze the computer. Is that it? Or did I do something wrong? I could try 1800 but is it even worth it?

Overclocking ram has little to no benefits. You're better off just using XMP profile set and forget.
