This will be my 8th system that I have attemped to OC with zero success.
I have tried 15 different guides for my exact cpu/motherboard combo, and in several cases, ram as well. I have tried simply upping small amounts exactly as explained for my system.
I have the Evga X58 Motherboard with a i7 920 CPU.
I can't get a stable overclock of even 2.7 (stock is 2.66).
I can't get past the first step, computer either will not boot or will BSOD in Windows if I adjust anything past stock speeds.
This has been the case for the past 8 systems I have attempted over 15 years time. Ever since I first heard of overclocking so many years ago, each time I put together a new system, I have attempted (for weeks) to OC each system. Never have I had a stable OC even slightly over stock speeds.
I'm honestly beginning to think OC'ing is a myth.
I have my system at 2.8 right now, but if I run Prime it will BSOD instantly with a 0X00000019 stop error.
I have tried all safe voltage combinations with various cpu clock speeds, none stable. Like I said, I have read and followed 15 different guides now, not just examples of settings, but guides on how to gradually step up everything with zero success. The very first modification results in system stability problems. Every time, with every system I have ever attempted to OC.
If anyone has any ideas on why this is, I would love to hear them.
(and yes, I've updated BIOS to the latest every time)
