Firmware revisions?

I wondered about that myself. I found out that a user should NEVER update the firmware on an IDE/SATA drive in the field. (This comming directly from HDD manufacturers of course) IF a firmware revision is needed, it should always be done at the factory (AKA by the manufacturer). I do know that on SCSI drives you can request updated firmwares if you have a specific problem with your drives but that is a case-by-case situation.

Its a bummer to say the least.

If anyone can prove me wrong, please do so :)
