I read somewhere that if you got a hard drive that died or something and you put it in the fridge and then connect it you have a good change of getting some data off of it. is this true or just a way to screw over the hard drive? i got a hard drive that is bad and i need to rma it but i would like to get my data off it. already tried some of those data recovery programs but they didnt work for me.

I've heard of this too, you put it in for like an hour then take it out, quickly hook it up and you've got 5 mins or so while it will still work. Worth a try anyway.

Yep, it works in some cases.

The cold (freezer works better, not refrigerator) actually moves the hard drive heads enough that it might let you get some data off a previously failed drive.
