Battlefied 1942 Help Needed

ok i downlaod teh .38 desert combat then i got the .39 patch i installed both and when i open the icon my pc freezes and when i go bf1942 then custom game and select DC and hit activate if freezes! wtf? can anyone help me

i just reinstalled the mod and when i went to acitvate it it illegal operationed

k, im just going to format and install xp tonight so ill have to anyways, thx for the help i wasnt sure what was going on with it. ever since i got the patch its been messing up (i use a no cd crack so i dont have to keep cd swappin)
