Hello,

I am looking on how to mod the p4p800se for more voltage to the memory. I dont think a BIOS tweek will work, so a vmod seems more realistic. I would like to go up to around 3.6V if possible.

Thanks,

Check here:

it's an easy mod, really. Get a 50k VR, solder 1 wire to pin 6 of LM358 (found below the DIMM slots and above the S-ATA ports), solder another wire to pin 4 of the LM358 (or a ground point) and solder each wire to the VR. Reduce resistance for higher volts.

Sry to be a newb.

Can you please give parts list from radio shack? My dad made circuit boards back in the day saudering is good. I have NO CLUE what to buy :p

Heres a complete list:

-15w Soldering Iron -- $8.39 (I just bought one myself a few days ago)
-Rosin-Cored Fine diameter Solder (My RadioShack reel is .32" diameter, but I use a .31" diameter Rosin-Cored reel from Kesler (sp?)) -- Around $3-$5
-Fine Wire (I use .28 gauge stranded wire, anything above .22 gauge should be easy enough to solder onto the IC)
-50k Ohms Variable Resistor (A.K.A. Potentiometer/Pot/VR)
-Wire Stripper/Cutter (thats a given)

Thats it. Along with the soldering iron, get a stand and a random sponge (cut up a standard bathroom/kitchen sponge). If you don't know how to solder, make sure you check out some guides online.

Here's a good one:

http://www.mtechnologies.com/building/atoz.htm

If its your first time soldering, make SURE you practice on something similar. These small points on the board are VERY small (the whole area of the IC, including its legs, is about a 1cm-by-.8cm rectange)

Someone from my own thread made a very good guide to follow when voltmodding:

btw, don't worry about 'being a newb', thats what we're here for ;)
