1 year tear-down pics! Goodbye, WC!

Wow that's pretty nasty. I tore mine down for a rebuild after almost two years with nothing but a kill coil and PT Nuke and it looked nothing like that. I had no growth and no buildup other than plasticizer. Also my killcoil looked silver still so unless it is just bad lighting that was your problem imo.

I think you made the right choice. If I had half as much sense I'd probably do the same, but I love water too much.
