so I was feeling left out on the new cpu thing so, I stopped at the toy store while the little lady and i were in the big city for diner last night.
I have 4 cores and an 8 core on the way again so i picked out an fx6300.
I through it in and this is my first high clock with it, what do you think.

Where in the hale have you got that thing running? Out in the building you sent pic of and I posted in your other thread? Reason I ask is your CpuTemp is lower than your "package' temp. That is o d d. I knew you could not stand being without a new PD. Older BD just is not going to cut it for the Bone Pile Man. Hehehe.

Those 6300s are spectacular chips right? The performance difference gen over gen just doesn't add up in this case. I want a six core for my wife but Im pretty convinced that with the gains Vishera hath wrought a 4300 will probably smoke anything she will do with her rig.

this is no six core 4170, they have come a long way with this processor, it's too bad this one is headed for the grandsons gamming rig..........

Is it throttling at all(or does 3dmark06 dislike Vishera)? Your CPU score is slightly lower than that of my 3.7Ghz 1045T(6900). I think it's only looking at single core performance but I would have thought the 6300 would score higher especially at that frequency.

As for our graphics scores it's a heavily CPU bottlenecked test and we score similarly there as well.

this is just fsb/multi/voltage.
thuban is an awsome cpu. I have been looking for an 1100 but they are hard to find.
I will find my cinebench and try to post that in the next day or two and will also begain tweaking it.

without tweeking it looks like 4.5 or so is the sweetspot, that is what I will be seeking before i put it in the grandsons gamming rig.

That's a nice little improvement especially in the lower frequencies.

Here's some of what I got out of my 6100 in Cinebench for reference. Ex. I got your 4.0GHz score at 4.2. I'll hide it in a spoiler.

Wow, very nice once you break 5GHz. Probably under that as well, things seemed to make quite a jump for the better when you drove the fan RPM up. Unless it's actually a .5 score increase for each 100MHz over 5Ghz which would be pretty awesome.

Edit: Did your 5.1GHz 3dmark06 score change now that you have the extra fan RPM?
