I think it's good. Personally I would change the 6850 for a 6750 as it saves you a bunch of money for only a little drop in performance.

Also change the 8600GT for either an 8800GT or ATI's 3870, much better cards.

Not sure on your budget, but the Samsung 226BW is a nice LCD.

As for SLI you would need a nvidia based board (680i), in which you have picked an intel based (P35). If you don't plan on going SLI then I wouldn't worry about it.

he only said some games.. the 8600gt will be fine for running bioshock and anything before.

Remember with the monitor, the larger you buy the better video card you'll have to get to support native resolution while gaming.

Yes, but if he wants to play anything that's coming out soon or in a year, 8800 GT or 3870 is a much better choice at the moment. Especially when the 8600 is a crap card in my opinion.

Even if he gets a 3850 for an extra 60 bucks, he is saving like 100+ by dropping down to the 6750 from the 6850.

if you want the dualcore, grab the e6750 and get the 8800GT/3870. If this is supposed to be a work box used for autocad etc, grab the Q6600 over the e6850, and change the 8600GT to a x1950pro.

I'd say at the very least, grab the 3850 and just find a place to squeeze in a few more bucks.

If it saves any money, the corsair 520HX/620HX/650TX will all power that build.

personally, for LCD, i'd get samsung.
