DC or AC pump?

in the olden days farms used windmills, mechanically couple to pumps....
I'm pretty sure (but could be wrong) that "big" pumps like 25HP do not exist in DC ... they exist plenty in AC
And if you use a DC-to-AC convertor/inverter, you've AC like this Solarland 500W http://www.pvpower.com/Solarland-Multicrystalline-ac-solar-panel-SAP-W-500W.aspx
That might not be what you're looking for but its a start
Practical home or industrial application of solor requires some stuff... batteries, regulators, suppressor, converter/inverter... because frankly there isn't much at home or industrial that isn't AC. The majority of the world has left DC behind a long time ago
