Do block outlets tend to line up across generations?

I have a 780ti right now with an EK Titan waterblock.

I'm considering buying a 980ti with an EK Titan X waterblock.

What are the odds that the fittings will line up nicely? I tried looking for dimensions of the blocks, but didn't find them in a quick search. Even if I had the block dimension specs though, I'd need a spec from the end plate of the card to the fitting itself, which I don't think I'd find online.

The only reason to keep two different cards in the same box is for mining purposes. If it won't work I'd just sell the 780ti I guess, but I'm trying to know as much as possible before I pull the trigger.

Not very likely. It would be a stroke of luck if they did.
Plan for the worst.
