I have a Asrock 970 Extreme 3 am3+ Mobo.. Will it work with the new vishera Fx 8350. It works with last gen FX and I hope it works. Thanks

It should but you probably want to make sure you have the latest bios installed before swapping it.

I honestly and afraid of installing new bios. I've heard many people say that it is dangerous, but I guess not. It's about time I need to upgrade my phenom II. Starting to show battle scars:p if you find anyway to help me more and provide me info I would be grateful:) thanks!

It's not so dangerous as it used to be now that most bioses allow you to flash from within the bios from a thumb drive.

My concern would be the power draw of the Vishera on your motherboard which only has a 4+1 power phase. If the new chips are not much better than the Bulldozers with regard to power draw and heat production it probably will not overclock high on that board.

I just had a look online to see if my MOBO would support Vishera...

What i found was not good
Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.

My name is Fiona and it's my pleasure to help you with your problem.

I am afraid to say FX 8350, 8320 couldn't support the M5A97 EVO, M5A99X EVO, or the Sabertooth 990FX motherboard.

To get support for the 2nd generation FX CPU's, you must purchase a R2.0 version board.

I hope thats wrong!!!!!

And yet Gigabyte with all the things people say about them have already released bioses for all of the 9xx series boards with support for Vishera... Sigh Asus.....

Yes and since the default speed is faster, they will draw more power from the get-go.

i have the same mobo and was planning on getting a new Vishera cpu..hmm

Good Grief.... lol

Just yesturday i downloaded what was then the latest BIOS 1503, i installed it 2 hours ago.

And now we have 1604...

Anyway, ASUS seem to be backtracking on the "need Rev-2 Motherboard to run Vishera" no sense.

Hopefully this is the BIOS that will make it sing.
