First. I'm well aware they have an x99 sabertooth.

Second. I'm referring to amd 990fx sabertooth. It's kinda the "go-to" board for quality, reliability and performance. It's also rather cost effective considering. Is there a comparable x99 board out there like this?

I'm dabbling on hopping the fence to the blue team. The 5820k hits price/performance ratio rigjt between the eyes, but I'm not willing to drop 400$ on a motherboard though. Just not worth it to me for a system wide price.

Would be watercooling this one (custom loop), but not looking for extreme voltages either.

Ideally I'd like to be under 700 for cpu, mobo and ram. 375 for cpu, 125 for ram, would leave 200 ish for the motherboard.

Short answer, no, not in the price range you seek. You'll be looking at boards in the $300-$400 range.

All X99 boards are high end / high quality. On all 95% features are the same. Most users won't feel special difference between the cheapest and the most expensive X99 boards.
I have MSI X99 SLI Plus and Rampage V Extreme at home. Both are the same for 24/7 work or gaming. On both CPU is overclocking the same. The only difference is that ASUS is better for memory overclocking what isn't really important for most users.

On X99 there is no difference in board quality and OC potential like on AM3+. Regardless what brand you pick, it will OC good and offer good stability.

Couple of cheaper boards:

Check what additional options you need ( sound, LAN, M.2 slots etc ) and browse forums to check if there are no issues. I can only tell you something about MSI but I'm not sure what about cheaper ASUS or Gigabyte. ASRock has good reviews in general.

Au contraire, mon frère...

You don't need a $3-400 motherboard. You can easily use something like this for air/water: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130796&cm_re=MSI_X99-_-13-130-796-_-Product

This platform, Intel, is not like what you need to support overclocking an AMD FX octo core bob. Just make sure it has the features you desire, aesthetic, and price point.

Where you are really going to get hurt is the DDR4 ram. The cheapest 4x4GB DDR4 2800 set at newegg is $170: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...11914&cm_re=4x4gb_ddr4-_-20-211-914-_-Product

Just to add something about quality ... my RMA status right now is 1:1 cheapest MSI vs most expensive ASUS ;)

Thanks guys.

Obviously, Im still a bit gunshy with the whole melting several motherboards thing haha.

Go grab an Extreme4 or Extreme6 and be done. They're the best bang/buck on X99 that I've seen
