fan control on z87 board

i just got this rig that came with a gigabyte z87x-d3H board. 120mm rear case fan is a 3pin fan plugged into the mb. looks to me like the bios is controlling the fan speed. but i thought it could only do that for PWM fans? is this board controlling the voltages for this 3 pin fan? i looked around in the bios and couldnt find the default settings for fan speed anywhere.


fan speed typically runs at 320rpms. seems low to me. running prime95 the speed maybe kicks up to 330rpms. so i guess the bios is controlling it somehow.
