If there's enough room to work, it's pretty easy to unclip the existing fan and clip on the new one. Just avoid putting sideways pressure on it.

Note that the stock fan is plenty for a quad core unless you're looking for really high clocks. For a 6 core, just put in a mid range (1.5A or so rated current) variable speed Delta or Nidec.
