Long story short;
Sold my PC, broke atm, assembled a very, *very* low-spec PC from spare parts, can I update the CPU?
The motherboard starts beeping from time to time (only God knows why) and I have no idea what's causing it. I tried running the E5400 ~30 min ago - no beeps & no signal. Re-inserted the old P4, PC started beeping, power light started blinking etc, etc. For some reason changing the 1GB memory stick from slot 1 to slot 2 solved the issue.. Tried resetting CMOS before that, no luck whatsoever.
So yeah; is it possible to run the E5400 at all? It's not on the official support list, but the mobo is LGA775 and supports 800mhz FSB.

P.S There's a rev 2 based on the same chipset that supports core 2 duo/pentium dual core:

Kind of sounds like what happened to my hp sff. Tried upgrading from a p4 to a pD and it beeps after installing the pD. Read on their website the compatible CPUs and the pD wasn't compatible. Your situation might be like mine? Incompatibility?
