Hmm considering it's in the Saber kitties price bracket here goes
-lower max frequency
Not sure how you can say this without seeing the board tested.
-fewer usb ports
12 vs 10... Do you really need more than 10??
-lesser thermal controls
Care to elaborate?
I see settings for HPC, APM, all C-States, and Cool & Quiet
-lower nic
They're both Realtek GbE...
-slower ram support
Wrong. UD5 R5 supports 2000MHz, Sabertooth supports 1866MHz.
-3 vs 5 levels of llc
Where'd you get this info from? I'm seeing that they changed LLC from the previous board for more control.
I only see three settings on the Sabertooth. "Regular, High, Extreme"
-lack of over current abilities
First real argument I see.
-lack of pcie frequency adjustment
Second real argument I see.
-lack of adjustment all around comped to sabertooth basically
Subjective, but I'll go with it.
-sabertooth is a proven board known to take a beating swith a smile
Yes, it's proven, but how many times in the past have we seen the "top dog" knocked off the throne?
So if you wanna put this gamble board up against a sabertooth put your money where your mouth is. Otherwise this board makes no sense go buy when you can get a sabertooth. If you don't need those features then step down to a 970 ud3 or a fatal1ty.
My money has been sunk into a 990FX Extreme9 for a while now. If I wasn't happy with that board, I would definitely give the R5 a try.
Only reason to buy this over the sabertooth is brand loyalty or it goes on a massive sale.
Or if, once tested, it performs better. It could easily happen.
