it drops down to 38c on all cores not 3 seconds after i abort the stress test

80c is higher than what I'd be comfortable with. If it were my CPU I'd keep it in the mid 70's during prime as most games wont stress the CPU as hard. I know there are games that will stress it to 100%, but not for the length of time that Prime does.

bf4 and crysis 3 use my cpu the most . the hottest it gets is 67c . prime95 really burns

A i7 4770k is good up to 90c and you will only see that with Prime95 with a good overclock.

Yes you can Haswell is designed to run hot, so go for it.

Looks like your chip is not a good overclocker, I would stay at 4.2 1.357v

Heat is not your problem it's the voltage that degrades the chip.

1.357v is a good lifespan, I don't know how long 1.4+ will last.

I achieved stable 4.2 1.357 from the stock 1.125 3.9 . I don't think I need 1.4+ to achieve 4.4 . Maybe I'll get lucky and achieve 4.4 without going above 1.4v .
