Hello everyone!

After my friends pc passed out He needs something to play games... But the money limit is 1800 PLN, which means ~ 440 Euro, but maybe i will give You a link for exemplary webshop:

agito.pl

But Polish langauge is a little difficult:-/ So maybe i will try to help You out like this:

MOBO:
http://www.agito.pl/podzespoly-pc/plyty-glowne/79.html
CPU:
http://www.agito.pl/podzespoly-pc/procesory/81.html
Memory:
http://www.agito.pl/podzespoly-pc/pamieci-do-pc/707.html
GPU:
http://www.agito.pl/podzespoly-pc/karty-graficzne/84.html
HDD:
http://www.agito.pl/podzespoly-pc/dyski-twarde/83.html
DVD:
http://www.agito.pl/podzespoly-pc/napedy/693.html
CASE:
http://www.agito.pl/podzespoly-pc/obudowy-i-zasilacze/220.html
PSU:

So You can check there some prices of hardware in our country (for specs You can always visit websites in Your langage)

Firstly i was thinking about some AMD - Phenom II X4 965 BE(350PLN), because I thought, that they are cheaper than Intels while having still good performance (I mean low and medium-end CPUs), but after reading some CPU tests i saw, that there is an Intel Pentium G860(235PLN), which have almost this same performance as that Phenom  :screwy: :sly:

So here is something, that I was thinking about:
CPU - Intel Pentium G860:
http://www.agito.pl/procesor-intel-pentium-g860-3-0ghz-box-81-510270.html?attr=297-294229

MOBO - Honestly? I don't know... :bump: I need some good motherboard, which will be cheap because of lack of things like aditional PCI-E slots, great power section for OC(there will be no OC) or 4 slots for DDR memory (I think, that 2x4gb will be enaugh and my friend is not predicting any upgrade). Is something like that ASUS good?
http://www.agito.pl/plyta-glowna-asus-p8h61-m-lx3-plus-r2-0-79-667348.html?attr=264-488572

Memory - Corsair DDR3 2x4096MB 1600MHz CL9.0 XMS3:
http://www.agito.pl/pamiec-corsair-...-0-xms3-96-470180.html?cid=707&attr=361-85843

GPU - I have no idea yet. For first lets find CPU, mobo etc and then lets try to look for something, when we will know how much money do we got left.

HDD - WD Blue WD10EZEX (1TB, 64MB, SATA/600):
http://www.agito.pl/dysk-wd-blue-wd10ezex-1tb-64mb-sata600-83-644100.html?attr=175-194726
or Dysk Seagate Barracuda ST31000524AS (1TB, 32MB, SATA/600):
http://www.agito.pl/dysk-seagate-ba...b-32mb-sata600-83-432862.html?attr=175-194726

DVD - Asus DVD-RW DRW-24B5ST + NERO 10 czarny BOX:
http://www.agito.pl/naped-asus-dvd-rw-drw-24b5st-nero-10-czarny-box-693-568289.html?cid=696

CASE - SilentiumPC Brutus 310 Pure Black:
http://www.agito.pl/obudowa-silenti....html?int_source=recommendation_479764_593475

PSU - What wattage do I need? No "hungry for power" Phenom, no crossfire/SLI configuration... 500Watts should be enaugh I think:
http://www.agito.pl/zasilacz-corsair-cx500-500w-80-bronze-221-663071.html?attr=2239-551657
or even Corsair CX430 430W 80+ Bronze:
http://www.agito.pl/zasilacz-corsair-cx430-430w-80-bronze-221-663069.html?attr=2239-551656

So what do You think about those components? Oh and there will be no SSD here :p. So please tell me what do You think about it... You can post some links from Your shops and i will find it in some polish to see how much is that cost. After We know how much do We spend on CPU, mobo etc - we will try to find some GPU for the rest money.

I know, that there is no better place when looking for some hardware help. :attn:

Oh and one more thing. Is it a good place for thread like that? :chair:

Regards,
Leito

Welcome to OCF and the forums looking at your list maybe these 3 items would be OK for what you want! So kindly take a look and see what you think? AJ. ;)

1, http://www.agito.pl/plyta-glowna-asrock-z77-extreme6-79-568294.html?attr=1-17813,938-513104

2, http://www.agito.pl/procesor-intel-core-i5-3570-3-40ghz-box-81-662211.html?attr=297-455675

3, http://www.agito.pl/pamiec-corsair-...ance-lp-96-477617.html?cid=707&attr=361-85843

The 3 items above is what most of the members use towards in building a Intel set up on here.

I would lean heavily toward an Intel build as well. There's no reason for an Extreme6, though. I would probably go with something cheaper in the motherboard department.

Are any of the parts from your friend's old PC salvageable?
Does he need 1TB of space?

What games does he play and at what resolution?

I looked at the site you provided and I don't think it will be possible to spend under 1800PLN and build a full rig capable of playing modern games at a respectable resolution.

If you were able to use the old case/HDD/power supply, it might be possible, but more likely still in the 2000PLN range.

What exactly happened to the old PC?

Thanks for quick answer :)

Ajay57 Thanks for tips, but this items are too expensive. I need to build completly all computer (case, HDD, PSU, DVD).

ninjacore I don't know what exactly happend to his old PC, but it was from something about 2002 - too old... From His reports fans are starting, but nothing else (nothing on the screen and no any beep sounds).
He wants to buy everything, thats why He has to leave something on the display (propably 21-24 inches, 1920x1080 resolution).
He likes sport games as FIFAs and racing as NFS. Something like Assassin's Creed, Medal of Honor 4, Battlefield 3.

I don't think, that He rely on maximum details, antialiasing ETC. He needs something, that can handle modern games in medium details and in the future - new games on low details.

Of course this is not an ultra gaming machine with 4 graphic cards, I7 on 2011 and 64gigs of ram :D. There is no need to run games on multi display mode. Only one on 1920x1080 or something like that and not maxed out details, BUT for sure it needs to run games smoothly. ;)

1TB HDD is more expensive for only 20% and of course bigger for 50% than 0,5TB HDD. But of course i will ask Him how big HDD is needed. :)

I found some test with 965BE and G860:

http://pclab.pl/art51678-3.html

Here i can see, that the difference is not so big AND in some games G860 is better... I think that in this price this is the most profitable CPU. The Phenom is more expensive and better in Max Payne 3 or Dirt 3 - only in this games the difference is big. In the rest it's less than 5FPS. Intel I3 or I5 are too expensive too... If this CPU is cheaper for somethign about a 100 - i can spend it on the GPU. What do You think about the CPUs?

Regards,
Leito

Thank You ninjacore for help. I think, that We almost decided for that better option (z77 and 7850).

But I still have some questions... HDD: Which one is better, Seagate or WesternDigital?

And about GPU: This Saphire is the best of all 7850 Radeons on this site (of 1024mb memory)? I can see, that the Vertex3D has higher GPU and memory clock. What about quality and reliability? He won't overclock this so i think, that stock clock are important.

Regards,
Leito

I would go Seagate over WD, but either way, they're about the same.

For the GPU, I would go with a known name (Sapphire) over an unknown. The small increase in clock speed will not make up for a better customer service department.

Ok, thanks. You've convinced me. :D

So There will be only 1 change - in CASE. I think, that We will go for a SilentiumPC Brutus310 (http://www.agito.pl/obudowa-silenti....html?int_source=recommendation_479764_593475). And that 1 fan will pull some air from front to the GPU.

When My Friend will decide to buy PC (propably ond of January) - I'll try to do some tests of it. Something popular - 3DMark? Which one is free?

With Regards,
Leito

Looks good to me.

Use the Heaven benchmark. It's a "newer" free one and is fairly popular, so you'll have lots to compare with.

Ok, Today We ordered that PC:attn:. We had to hurry, because prices started to rise up.. Additionaly I've asked My friend what hard drive does He recomend, and He said, that only WDs or Samsungs... In My brothers rig Seagate Barracuda after 4-5years realy slowed down and My one has got 8 bad sectors, and WD has got more Cache memory :pP, So the HDD is:
http://www.agito.pl/dysk-wd-blue-wd...44100.html?attr=8731-549493,1-1243,175-194726

Then I was looking for some infos about that Corsair and from what I've found, the 430Watts is the total amount of power:-/ (3,3V; 5V and 12V lines), and on 12V line there is only 336 Watts(28A), and some review was telling, that it uses some chinesse capacitors:(, so I've decided to go for a XFX Core 450, which has 408Watts on 12V line(34A), which is some quite good Seasonic inside. I have got a XFX Core 550 and I'm happy from it so far

http://www.agito.pl/zasilacz-xfx-core-450w-80-bronze-psu-221-527379.html?attr=1-465156

So these are the only changes. I think, that the package will arrive on this week and We will try to build it and run it. :salute:

So maybe don't close this thread yet. I can have some problems with building it. And after all i have to post some Benching results :comp:.

Regards,
Leito

Sounds good. Have fun with it and post back with any questions. Threads don't close here after a period of inactivity, so you should be good.

So the package arrived today. We've checked it out and all parts are correct with the order. :) But there are of course first problem.

On the motherboard there is additional 2x4pin connector, but XFX Core 450 PSU has got double 2x2pins connector. It looks like this:

http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/ACC_52711.jpg

On this photo You can see the 8pin connector, but My PSU doesn't have it. There is only that 2x 4pin connector.

The other question is where to plug the HDD and DVD drive? To Sata 6Gbit or to 3Gbit?

Regards,
Leito

Plug the drives into the 6Gbps sata ports. They might not run that speed, but the ports are backward compatible.

You should be able to put the double 2x2 connector into the 8pin CPU power power on the motherboard.

00 + 00 = 0000
00 + 00 = 0000

So We've build it, but for now We don't have any monitor:-/. He changed His plans from some 22 inches used one, to smaller, new one:shrug:. Tomorrow We will go for an LG E1942C-BN:p. The bigger one won't fit His desk:rofl:.

So without a monitor there was no many things to test:screwy:. The only think I did was starting it up and listening to the "buzzer" - 1 short beep means succes :attn:

I've connected the DVD and HDD to the faster SATA 6Gbits/s, but I've checked His old Harddrive and it works on my brothers old PC(SATA1). We would like to copy some data from it. It's Barracuda 7200.10 80Gbytes(SATA2?). Do I have to do something in BIOS to not boot it up as a master? From the cover of HDD i can see, that by the jumperswitch i can limit the speed to 1,5Gb/s. This jumper is connected on this limit to 1,5 right now. By changing that jumper to another slot can i make it "SLAVE" or do I have to change it in BIOS:chair:?

I've made only 1 photo because there was no time:

http://imageshack.us/f/69/dsc0146bz.jpg/

I know, that there is no good cable management , but cables are realy hard and there is no realy good place for them. In this case I can't put them behind Motherboard. I was worried about additional motherboard power connector. In this mobo it's 8pin connector, but My PSU has only two 4pin connectors... I did like You said and they fit good - PC started up. :)

So I will make sure tomorow, but everything seems to looks like My first PC building was succes :ty: :salute:

Thanks for Your help and please answer to my next question and wait for some benching results. :comp:

Regards,
Leito

Ok. Finaly my friend made the benchmark on Heaven Benchmark 3 with this setup:

dx: 11
resollution: 1366x768 fullscreen
shaders: high
textures: high
filter: trilinear
anisotropy: 4x
occlusion: enabled
refraction: enabled
volumetric: enabled
tessellation: normal

FPS: 79,5
Scores: 2001
Min FPS: 9,8
Max FPS: 183,3

Sorry for so long waiting time. :(

With regards,
Leito
