like i said, they are moving the C chips to their PC3200.

and small retailers can sell CPU's by the stepping. but newegg has to sell thousands of CPU's a week. too much volume for them to search. they occasionaly will separate 1 stepping they have out, because they have a lot of it, but thats as good as your gonna get.
again newegg cant contact samsungs distributors and say i need the sticks with C chips because they o/c better, theyd get laughed of the shipping list:)

there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY newegg can go through their entire stock of memory, and separate the CTL chips from the DTL sticks.

If that's the case, then they need to quit listing the model number, referencing CTL, in the product description.

In fact, another thread pointed out that they now _are_ separating CTL from DTL. Two separate product entries, identical price. See Newegg's updated Samsung PC2700 offerings.

For those of you who were sent DTL when the product description clearly promised CTL:

Has Newegg offered to refund all fees, including shipping, or to RMA the RAM, replacing your DTL w/ CTL, at no additional cost to you? Or are you having to pay return shipping, shipping on the replacement stuff, etc?

do you work for newegg? lol.

Well as far as that goes i got them to let me RMA it with no re-stocking fee... At the time they wouldnt pick out the CTL's for me for an exchange... I have to pay to ship them back.. Also now since they have changed it on there site where ya can buy the CTL or DTL 256 sticks i ordered them right away... I would of called them and got and see what they could of done for me since i am sending back the dang DTL's tommorow once my Mushkin 512 gets to me "Hopefully"... but they were closed at the time and i wasnt about to miss out on the CTL's and wait till the morning to call them once there most likely will be out of stock.

Ya know your right... Why should i have to freakin pay to have them sent back since they didnt send the right stuff in the first place.. Though now they have a message saying:

"Please note: due to manufacturer version updates, pictures may not match exactly to your item. Newer version of this item maybe shipped before this picture is updated. "

But thats just in with the picture and the only way you will see that message is if you ckick on "SEE IT" for the item..

EDIT: HAHAHAH man i gota get some freakin sleep.. I laughed my but off when i read my own post at the bottom.. chuckle... Thats only about the pic hehehe

Right, that refers only to the picture. It doesn't mean that they're free to mislead you by giving the wrong model# in the text description.

Don't pay the return shipping. It's their fsck up, not yours.

Newegg is a great company, but when they pull something like this, intentional or not, I don't understand why people make excuses for them. It's only by owning up to this sort of thing that they'll stay great. After all, a good reputation takes ages to build, and moments to unravel.

/me eats my words

IMO thats some dedication to separate your stock like that. since good ram for 72$ a stick is hard to come by, i think im gonna order 2 CTL sticks right now:)

order the mushkin 3000 instead for 80bucks free shipping. its only 2 bucks more per stick.

ok. let me jump into this conversion. excuse my language first off.
NEWEGG SMOKES GOAT $%^#
they are the absolute worst company i have ever in my life dealt with. the only good product they sell is CPU's and besides that the only other good thing about that company is the RMA department cause they will rma anything and everything. let me go down a list of all of the defective products i have ordered from that POS company.

Epox 8kha+ = Caught on fire after reinserting memory. killed mobo and memory. took off warenty sticker a while back on mem so i wasted $170 which i could not get back (ordered directly from crucial)

MSI KT266a PRO2 RU= never got this board. they sent me some msi intel board instead and after waiting for a week for this board i decided to switch to kt266a

Epox 8k3a= Was missing features. noticably two PCI slots that they forgot to solder in.

Epox 8k3a+=used for one month but ended up RMA'ing cause it was the absolute most unstable board i have ever had.

Asus A7v333=those god damn newegg *******s gave me a fuc|<ing refurbished board that would not post no matter what

RAM= 2x256 Samsung Single Sided 2700. RMA'd on monday after 1.5months. Would never do aggressive settings. after running mem test i got over 5000 errors. because i took so long to rma this they will not except refunds. only exchanges. i swear to FUC|<ING GOD IF THEY GIVE ME ANOTHER BAD THING, i am going to THROW A FIT!!!!!!!
they would not let me exchange the ram for the corsair XMS2700 i wanted.

The only thing i will ever order off of that horrible company again is a CPU cause they get the latest steppings at the cheapest prices on the web

its not newegg's fault if they get busted products from the distributor. cause of Mwave im still out 110$ for my 8KHA+, they havent ever responded to my emails:mad:

surely you can use other words to describe things. i think its absurd when people start off arguments with "excuse my language" cause they know better and they are telling you they do.

and... i think you just threw a fit. correct me if im wrong.

they would not let you exchange the memory because its not the same price. if i had a defective ford escort they wouldn't let me exchange it for a mustang, now would they?

so far i have had nothing but success from newegg. i am about to make a $600+ order from them next week. im sorry you have recieved bad parts from them... but you know what? they ALWAYS took them back didn't they? so stop whining!

newegg has if not the best, pretty darn near the best customer satisfaction ratings for an online computer retailer, so you are in the minority.

Let's see, dead Shuttle board. Hmmm, Neweggs fault or Shuttle's fault. I know that this can't be that hard to figure out. RMA with Newegg is exceptional. I just know in my heart that those little elves putting those little, itty bitty parts on the Motherboards, well...they...yes, they MUST be NewEgg employees.

Please do tell all (including Newegg) how they can insure that none of the parts they sell (and did not make) can be tested in order to insure that we get a factory sealed product that is without defect.

How can it be NewEgg's fault that you removed a sticker from a stick of memory? And how is it NewEgg's fault that EPoX did not solder in 2 pci slots? Also, may I ask how the 8K3A+ was not stable? EPoX (at least for this particular mobo) does not guarantee that it can reach a certain overclock. Also, the Samsung memory, where on their site does it say it is guaranteed to run any faster then stock? The only things you can possibly blame them for is sending you a wrong board, in which you could have easily exchanged, and them sending you a refurbished board, that's assuming that you ordered a new board. I'm sorry but you are blaming them when it is clearly not their fault. If you don't like them, why do you keep ordering from them?

i kept on orderin from them because they would never give me a refund but they would let me trade my mobos and give me cash back if one was cheaper than the previous one i had.

it is not neweggs fault i removed a sticker but it is neweggs fault for not giving me money for the ram that was working 100% fine until i put it into a board i got from there site.

newegg must hate me if they gave me the one bad 8k3a i had.

the 8k3a+ would not run stable at NORMAL NON OVERCLOCKED SETTINGS. 100% by default speed for everything. I tried many bios'es and looked on many forums and could not seem to find any answer

The same goes with the ram. non overclocked. by spd defaults. would crash once every 5 hours just surfin the web and such. if i tried to run aggressive settings i would get a random reboot every 5 minutes.

edit: BTW the current mobo i have i got from MWave.com and have not had a single prob w/ it. it is the best board i have ever used.
newegg must hate me a lot.

they may hate you alot... still doesn't change the fact they are the best online computer retailer.

i ordered a refurb mobo from them expecting only the motherboard but i got box, cables, cd everything i love newegg and will always deal with them. They have a great upstanding reputation in my book.
