I have this PC http://support.hp.com/us-en/product...ies/3824167/model/3867597/document/c01619745/ It has the Phenom X4 9850- The mother board: MSI MS-7548, wont detect the cpu fan anymore. So I am looking for a replacement. ALthough it is hard to find a Motherboard with the am2+ socket. I need for this to be as cheap as possible as long as my wife can still play her sims without lag. I do have it in a custom case so it won't matter much what the form factor is. Is this my best bet?: http://www.amazon.com/ASRock-AM2-AM...herboard&pebp=1422968378720&peasin=B00F0PLQDK Thanks in advance for your help. Oh and the DIMM slots there will have to be 4 of them, as I have 4 sticks of DDR2.

Could you not just put the fan in another header and set the CPU fan to ignore. If the board still works other than that you might just get away without buying a new one.

O.k. My co-worker found a work around and got me into the bios and overrode the cpu fan check. So I am back in action. Thank you all for the help.

AHHH I see being an HP you couldn't access the bios or at least not all of it. Good to know you're up and running with zero added investment. Those are always the best
