Memory, Storage, What is it? - Optane DDR4 Dimms

So been following this a little here and there but looks like officially Intel is upping the game and making Optane what it was ment for.

Curious where this tech will lead. Faster, less power consuming hardware coming up I think, in due time that is. Let the enterprise sector soak up the cost first

Hard to say if we are going to see it for desktops and how it will really work - "The modules are pin-compatible with standard DDR4 DIMMs and will be supported by the next generation of Intel's Xeon server platforms." New single socket Xeons will be on the market in a month. Dual+ sockets were released not so long time ago and Xeons have usually longer life than desktop series ( more like desktop X ) so we may have to wait a year to see official product with official results and non-beta drivers/firmware.
Considering how big fail was Optane and VROC then next magical Intel technology won't convince me till I see it working fully stable without unexpected issues.
