Hey guys, i know nothing about digital cameras, what you guys get for max $250 USD ?

I was interested in those two :

Canon PowerShot SX110 IS Black 9.0 MP 3.0" 230K LCD 10X Optical Zoom Digital Camera : $219.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16830120285

or

FUJIFILM FinePix S1000fd Black 10.0 MP 2.7" 230K LCD 12X Optical Zoom Digital Camera : $179.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16830122149

Which one would you get ? Fell free to recommend others on that budget also.

Also, whats the diference between this FujiFilm one, and this Canon EOS 40D Black 10.1 MP, see below:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16830120229

Because both are 10.2 MP but the Cannon costs $1,079.99 against $179 of the FujiFilm. I know that has to be some big difference, just wanted to know what it is that makes it so much more expensive.

Also, is FujiFilm a trustworthy brand for digital cameras ?

Thanks a lot.

I don't have the knowledge of those particular cameras to tell you which is better but you need to keep something in mind, the MP number isn't everything. That is only part of the equation. The quality of the lens, how the camera processes the pictures, etc. are just as important. Read reviews, browse camera forums, etc. to get more information on what you are interested in.

im planning on getting the canon SX10 SI, i did some research on the web and seems to be an good camera, i looked for sample photos and i was happy, the price is not too high...i which i could afford a D40 but well it all depends what use your going to give it...

there is plenty of info out there about that SX10 SI, google it and see if you like what you see/read...

Alright, thanks for the advice, just checked some yesterday, will keep learning about it

That one looks good, unfortunatly its a little above my budget

I think i almost decided for that one (Canon PowerShot SX110 IS 9.0MP):

But i think the "Specifications" page for this camera at Newegg is missing the function Optical Image Stabilizer, i read that this model has it. Also theres an IS at the name :p

Thanks

I owned the Canon 20D and 40D. Used them specifically for macro photography (bugs).

Now I own the Canon Powershot 570 I think it is. Great camera for the price. I'm very satisfied with it.

You can't go wrong with either the Canon or Fujifilm, honest. For everyday stuff. I would preferably go with Canon only because I don't have any experience with Fuji.

The Canon EOS 40D is a semi-pro camera. It has a much better sensor and since it is a DSLR you need to buy the lenses to use with it. It's not a Point & Shoot.

Wow that one is really cheap, i'll consider it also, since its one for general use, that might be more than enough for what i need.

Thanks a lot.
