NP. Devourment. Everybody looks at things differently and there are no magic bullets out there that will do what everyone wants. We all want the same thing in the end but take different paths to get there. By future proofing you want the mb that you buy now and spend a bit more on to be able to do what you want in the end, I figure when the time comes I will probably just do a system upgrade to whatever is out at the time and spend less now and maybe there will be something new offered when the time comes. I’m not saying my way or your way is better, I’m just saying we see different ways to get to the end.

I know the Biostar has a few less things to offer over the other boards that are out now, but it offers all that I was looking for in the range that I was willing to pay and when it comes down to it anyone that is looking to buy new hardware will have to decide what they want and what they want to pay. :D

Also the Biostar does not have Esata.

Nice choice, I hope someone else could give you another advice in the cooler if you can pick another with more performance at the same range of price, btw, I have the m4a89gtd PRO/USB3 and I´m really happy with it....

It all depends on how upgradeable you want the motherboard. If you build a full system every 2-3 years and don't tend to upgrade in between then one of the older Gigabyte 790X boards would be a good buy. They may update the BIOS next year to handle the newer CPU's but they may not, that's why I asked.

If you want to be able to upgrade next year then I'd go with either the Biostar that's been mentioned, the Gigabyte 890FX-UD5, or the ASUS M4A89TD. Those boards are listed in price order. All are good boards and all should last 2-3 years but only the Gigabyte has dual LAN. When you compare the boards don't forget to include the Ethernet card price if the board doesn't have it. ;)

For a CPU cooler I'd either go all-out and get the TRUE with a pair of Panaflo medium fans or drop back to the Sunbeam CCT 120mm. The Sunbeam is an excellent budget cooler @ $25 with MIR. You may get 1-2°C out of another more expensive cooler but unless you go all the way you won't see much real difference.

The TRUE as about as good as it gets. You can get a pair of Yate Loons for it instead if you want to save a little money. Not quite as good as the Panaflo's but they will still give you very good performance with that heatsink.

Post back with your final choices and, of course, we'll be here when you decide to OC ... :D

It never takes long for the Biostar bashing to start. Both myself and my son run Biostar boards and we also are both running OCs on them. His is an Intel board and mine is AMD. They do not have a shady reputation as Prunecandy has alleged. Instead it is quite the opposite. They have excellent tech support. Now I could go on and post examples of Gigabyte boards that have caught on fire and the poor customer service that the guy then received in return but that serves no purpose. You should make your decision based on what you want from a board and if it then has those features. I won't say that you should buy the Biostar board but just realize that it is a great board. However, if it doesn't have what you want then you should look for something else. USB3 probably isn't that big of a deal since it can be added in later. Also most USB3 stuff right now will be overpriced.

Think about what you want and make an informed decision that isn't prejudiced by someone's personal feelings about a company. That simply won't help you with your choice!

i said the board is GREAT board.. chill. i never said they have awful customer service. just i have never seen people recommend biostar since the 890fx came out.

Then what is this...

Quote "but biostar does have a shady reputation which is what keeps me from buying there boards"

Really? IMO they have a good reputation. When you say things like that you simply add to the Biostar trashing efforts.

And BTW the TA890FXE board gets recommended all of the time. And I (from my own experience) also have no problem recommending that someone purchase a Biostar board. They often offer a good alternative to the high priced boards from Gigabyte and Asus. Not always but sometimes.

Lets drop the back and forth guys...seriously you have pounded this horse into a squishy pulp.

(did I just say that? Me of all people?)
