Long story short I'M DONE! I'm tired of my Sabertooth 990FX, it's gotta be replaced ASAP. I won't describe all its problems I do not want advice on fixing it i'm sorry, just warning you DO NOT GET this board. It is horrible, unstable, and inconsistent. Wasted $189.00 now. I will NOT RMA it, I'm going to blow it to pieces with my shotgun I think. I know the current power pull of my CPU is very high. I'm willing to spend $150 on a new MoBo. Is there a stable, non-ASUS and suitable replacement?

MoBo that is being replaced:

so without details what happened to your sabertooth? I ask because I have one on the way to replace my crosshair iv formula which decided to take a crap after a year and a half and I won't start the rma process until the new board is in as I already know just by the asus rog forums that my turn around time will be months for a replacement so that will just go straight to ebay. Any hint of a problem when the new board is here and I will rma it straight back to newegg the same day and Asus or anyting affiliated with that brand will be on the do not touch list.

ASRock used to be the OEM division of Asus but broke away and became independent a few years ago and is an up and coming enthusiast class motherboard manufacturer. I've used several of them and been very pleased but have not had any experience with their RMA process so I can't comment on that. I will say they have the most user friendly web site of any of the board manufacturers without a doubt.

if at all possible i would nudge my 150 limit slightly and get something in a better class of mobo the dividends (headaches) payoff later...thats been my exp so far.
i see u said non asus but give th ch5 a look..

Knufire, been helping these posters fairly steadily and I sort of keep a running tally of things that seem to overclock more readily and the Extreme4 boards seem to do much better once the cpu becomes an FX-series. Mind you this is not scientific by any means but just a running sort of thing I keep after helping and reading hundreds of posts. Not information I gathered from other forums, just basically here in the forum with users coming and saying...my stuff don't clock...help me.

Oh, gotcha. In that case, Extreme4 would be a good choice as well. The Extreme3 is sort of a budget 990FX board anyway.

what i have found with the asrock 990fx extreme 3 is the power phases lack for higher wattage cpu's, if i had to choose again i would probably go for the extreme 4 990fx board, but the quality of asrock boards seem quite good of late.

The phases sound like a solid idea for the difference in EX 4 and EX 3.

CHV is the board of choice for benching, but you got to pay top dollar if you want the best, as with all things "you get what you pay for"

Well, seeing as your not going to tell us what problems your having with this board, I'll tell you what I've run into with it.

1st, I could not get XP Pro x64 to install, I would get a stop error screen when Setup goes to start windows after loading the setup files.

2nd, when I did get XP to install, max stable ram speed was 1866MHZ.

After calling Asus, I fould out that XP Pro does not like AHCI (default setting) for the HDD's, I changed it to IDE and it worked.
As for #2, I can live with 1866MHZ for ram speed unless I remove 2 of the 4 sticks :)

All good advice, thank you Whitehawk. I realized that probably what happened and it corrupted my device. I will RMA this thing, and see if it works if not I need a replacement that is out of the boc ready for a AM3+ 8120.

Most of the motherboards I've seen, no matter the price, all have the same flaw and do not have AM3+ Native support. The AsRock look great, but same issue.

all have the same flaw and do not have AM3+ Native support = Can you make that more clear? I have been considering spend from my limited funding for a FX-series processor and I surely need a mobo with native AM3+ support.

Oh, I mean. Does any MOBO have thier bios ready for AM3+? I keep finding many people have older bios on thier Mobo when they recieve it and are unable to boot.

I found mainly ASUS of all places have thier bios updated on shipment.
