OCF FW Class Allocations - PLEASE READ !

Brolloks and I have spent a lot of time going over all your system specs, and have attempted to position the team as strategically as possible. Let me re-cap our team timeline:

1. THIS THREAD - I will post a preliminary team roster for your individual strategic planning....I'll also set a goal for you to attempt to reach
2. Feb 1st - download the desktop background start benching
3. Feb 14th - deadline for "The Audition Competition" score posting
4. Feb 17th - sub-teams will be finalized, each of you will know for sure what category you'll be fighting in
5. Feb 25th - deadline for "all out" run (first public score posting)
6. Mar 2nd - deadline for score updates (I expect to see some improvement from most of you, 2nd public post)

So the OC'ed scores which you're required to submit before Feb 14th will determine your final sub-team placement. Between Feb 1st and Feb 14th, you are welcome to "try-out" for any sub-team you would like. You may end up in a different sub-team than what I have you slated for here (that's OK).

But, I would like to ask everyone (if possible) to please make a submission for the sub-team I have you slotted for here. If there is some reason why that is not possible, please PM me and Brolloks and give us the details.

So far, there will be very little competition for A, B, and C class....but lots of competition in the D, E, F, and G classes. If anyone can "try-out" for A, B, and C classes...please do, the only reason why I didn't slated anyone else for those classes, is that based on the info you gave me, nobody else is capable with the HW/cooling they have available.

I would like to mention that my 555 can run as an x3, and score much higher than my 720. The 555 clocks 850 mhz faster on cpu-z and the Wprime 32m speeds go from 4500 to 5300. If it's possible change my 720 x3 to my 555 x3.

Edit: Looked at the score calculator, using the 555, I should be able to just tweak out the points to hit my goal (and exceed). With the 720, I would say it's borderline impossible.

I'm already breaking the 184K mark with my setup current setup -> 555BE - 4 Cores @ 4085MHz + 5670 @ (875/1100). That's without major tweaking and a weak MoBo. I'm sure I'll be able to take it much higher once the 890FX, SSD and new GPU arrive.

Dang... that's what I get for opening my big mouth!

I may not hit the 384K mark, but I'll try my hardest to get as many points as there are to get in my class.

This 555BE will have a good OC Bonus, it already gets to 4.1 benchable, so a decent MoBo/PSU/Cooling should improve it. Mabye I should get one of them blowers that I.M.O.G has been using; I guess that would beat the snot out of any case fan out there.

I'll report back once I have the components. The GPU will be the last one to get here (Feb 3rd is date of purchase so I'd say three or four days later I'll have it with me). That should give me enough time to see how far it will go.

Here's a thought though...
All of you guys that have done your stripped OSs for FW with nLite/vLite... Maybe we should have a repository of nLite/vLite profiles so we can all have the best performing OS setups?

I have all the necessary OSs, but stripping them and keeping them functional for benching has proven a bit challenging.

Stipped XP will be good for Geekbench, but stock Win7 will be fine for the others (trim the services down a bit)......we've had many talks in the past about sharing OSes....but copyright laws prevent it from happening here, and the topic is closed for discussion

I understand you can't give out the Windows software or link to .iso files, but why can't we share nLite/vLite settings?

No need to share the actual OSs. But the nLite/vLite profiles so that we all can strip our OSs to the best specs would be useful IMHO.
