Current ram.......
OCZ Gold Series 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model OCZ4001024ELDCGE-K

Check sig for OC, My question is, If I can press the FSB further with some better ram, What ram would it be ?

I want to upgrade this ram to achive better OC, but dont want to buy the wrong stuff.

Help,Thx

If you want to stay at 2GB then you could get the OCZ DDR500 (PC4000) kit. Otherwise, in 1GB, you could go for the DDR660 (PC4800) kit.

Are you currently running a 5:4 divider or 1:1? I'm guessing 5:4 because I have the PC3200 Gold & can't get it past 225MHz 2-2-2 @ 3.2v. 2x512 OCZ PC3200 Platinum Rev 2 should be able to get you the same 267 FSB 1:1 with 2.5-3-3-6.

Wow, nice looking stuff. I don't think I've ever seen that PC4200 before - just the hynix 3-4-4-8. I'm guessing it's TCCD, like my Platinum Rev 2, which can become hit or miss on Intel platforms over 250MHz. I had some Corsair PC4400C25 TCCD that I couldn't get to work at 275 & didn't tighten up at lower clocks as well as my OCZ. Wouldn't it be nice if there was some PC4800 made to work with Intel? I'd buy it!

Here's a review done by Guru3D using a 2.8C & the PC4200 Platinum.

EDIT: I can get into windows at 275MHz with my Platinum Rev 2, but I need more time to see if I can get it stable. I only tried it once & it crashed on a 1M SPi run. I can lower the 17x multi to 14x on my 3.4 to get the really high clocks. I've had it to 289 FSB w/ a 5:4 divider. Like you, I'd rather run 1:1.

been a while since I been on this post, did some bandwidth bench's 5/4 @ 250 smokes 1/1 at 220 , altho it only gives maybe 5/8 fps in video preformance.

probly by the time I can afford that ram I posted I could save for next generation cpu/sli/ddr2 mobo.

Its alwayes nice to window shop
