i just got a asus P5A-B and i want to flash the bios.

the manual (http://www.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock7/ali/p5a-b/p5ab-107.pdf) says on p38

Create a bootable system floppy disk by typing [FORMAT A:/S] from the DOS prompt without creating "AUTOEXEC.BAT" and "CONFIG.SYS" files.
Copy AFLASH.EXE to the just created boot disk.

i tried "format a:/s" from the command prompt in windows xp and "/s" is not a valid parameter. i also dont have aflash.exe anywhere.

is there anything i can do to make the floppy i need? i tried contacting asus, but something was wrong with the server. i'll try again later, but i was wondering if anyone had some pointers (or perhaps some very old bootdisks)

From the Format menu on drive A:, you'll have an option to create a bootable floppy. That will work, but I prefer the BIOS flash boot floppy image from www.bootdisk.com .

On some older motherboards the latest version of Aflash won't recognize the BIOS chip, and won't flash. If you have this problem, get an older version of Aflash here, http://www.levi.cz/soubor.php?typ=flashmb&produkt=Asus+AFlash
It annoys me that Asus doesn't make it available on their site, but that sort of thing comes with the territory when dealing with older hardware.
