I have a great need to convert an orphaned .OST file to a .PST file. I won't bore you with the harrowing tales that lead me to be in this position but needless to say, I need recommendations!

I know that an .OST file is proprietary and therefore M$ only supports its manipulation from within Outlook. This is not an option for me. The .OST is orphaned.

I can find numerous sites that claim they can convert the .OST for a mere $199. I would like to know that any of these companies are legit in any way before I spend the money.

If you have tried any of these 3rd party converters or know of a proper way to convert the .OST to a .PST I would be very grateful.

Thank you in advance.:bang head

Right. Same problem I had.

Base on a recommendation from a user @ overclockers.com.au, I purchased a product from http://www.nucleustechnologies.com/.

It cost $199 USD which is salty at best.

I had tired out several "Free to try" softwares including this one and it showed the most promise for data recovery.

While I can not speak to the business practices of this company yet, I can say that the software worked. My client got about a month of his emails (probably all that was in his OST file) with attachments. He got all of his contacts. He got all of his calendar appointments. I got off of his $H!4 list.

A note about this software. It does not work on Windows 7 64 bit. I had to pull out an old XP machine with office 2003 and then the software worked without a hitch.

I will also add that they use "element 5" for payment which is the same company that AVG uses. I have not had a problem with my CC and am not expecting any but if I see any shinannagins, I will update.

I found this: http://forums.msexchange.org/m_1800507800/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm#1800560310

But why do you need to do this? did the server fail did you switch domains? etc?

If the server failed and or domain is gone you can is if you have the same MAPI profile configured, is to open the ost file while not being connected to Exchange (offline) and then export data to a pst file. Later you can import data from that pst file. Anytime this has happened to us we always use Microsoft products to correct the issue, but id need a bit more info on what happened to give you a better answer.

EDIT:

Talked to a co-worker, he said he has used this before: http://www.osttopstconversion.us/

Heres a demo link: WARNING THIS IS A DIRECT DOWNLOAD: "http://www.mydls.org/systools-ost-recovery.exe"

Hello, I'm having a similar problem. When I was converting an orphaned .OST file to a .PST file, the .PST file crashed, and now, I have a corrupt .PST file. I tried to repair it with Nucelus Technologie, but it software does not work for me. Anyone know other software to repair a .PST file?

I was just going to suggest this.

For me, this was four years ago. The software I used did work out well for me back then. Fortunately, I've never been in that situation before or after.

It was the first time I had ever demoted a server and everything that it entailed. In the process, the old server lost all of its data. In other words, I couldn't have done it more *wrong* if I had set out to do it wrong. I had spent about a full week with a weekend up until midnight ever noght with MS support and we never did get it right.

Once I recreated everything from scratch and made the PSTs from the OSTs, things were fine and are still fine to this day.

I do understand. I was looking for the best tools and I found Stellar, Cimaware and DataNumen, do you know some of these tools?
