Hey guys i was wondering why they have PC 3500 but the best mobos only suppport up to pc 3200?:confused::confused: this kinda sux for me who is gettin a pc 3500 VERY soon. im lookin at the ic7 max3 from abit btw

You need a motherboard that allows you to overclock, otherwise you can't:/
But pretty mucha ll good motherboards allow you to either use the default settings or your own (this would allow overclocking).

If you are using a good mobo like Abit or Asus, the RAM speed increases as you raise the FSB. Here is Mushkin PC3500 RAM in an AI7 running at DDR500. It's pretty rare to get PC3500 RAM to run that fast though.

exactly!

if you put in say pc3200 in a 2.4C chip - the FSB is already @ 200mhz - so now you want to over clock - as soon as you hit 201mhz FSB - you are now pushing the PC3200 past it's specifications and you just voided your warrenty :)

Now you go out and buy some PC3500 or pc4000 and u now have that head room to overclocks and you know your ram wont be holding your back :D
