hi,
i am buying radeon hd 6970 2Gb which is PCI Express 2.0 card and i have a PCI Express 1.0 slot on my motherboard...i know it will work because they both are backward compatible...

my question is will there be any performance loss? if yes how much will it be?

or should i think about another card?

thanks in adv..

A PCIe 1.0 x16 slot = PCIe 2.0 x8 slot. So, you'll see minimal loss in performance, like up to 3-5% max.

thanks everyone

then 6970 it is.

u will feel some loss but if u use single screen it should be fine if u want ifinity it might have biger issues by the way i still offer you too buy 6950 2gb and unlock it to hd 6970 sapphyre toxic one seems great it if i'm right it has 2x8 or 6+8 pins power like real hd6970 so its identical only cheaper ;) gl and happy holydays
