I have some questions about reaching FSB of 250 with a DFI Lanparty NFII Ultra B and an XP-M 2600+. I want to reach FSB 250 on my rig, but I wanted to get some opinions from the experienced overclockers before attempting it.

Here is my PC specs:

DFI Lanparty NFII Ultra B
Mobile AMD Athlon XP 2600+ @ 2.5 GHz, (1.75v, FSB 200) / Using Thermalright SI-97 w/ Panaflo Fan
Mushkin PC3500 1 GB (512x2) Level 1 Dual Channel (http://www.mushkin.com/epages/Mushk...a0150054c2740c0a8010205b6/Product/View/991091)

Right now, I am running my 2600+ @ 2.5 GHz on 1.75v with an FSB of 200. I have run Prime95 on this rig and it has been stable for at least 26 hours (haven't tested any longer).

I do know that RAM is usually the limiting factor when trying to reach an FSB of 250. I know that my Mushkin PC3500 may be a limiting factor, since PC3500 RAM is rated to run at 217MHz (Not quite sure if this is the exact number??). I haven't tweaked my RAM much, so I am not so familiar with overclocking RAM. What should I do to reach an FSB of 250? Is it even possible with this rig?

Of course it is possible, especially with a DFI and Mobile Barton. However, the two potential limiting factors might be the power supply and the memory. Simply put, you'll probably need a decent brand name unit to power a system for a healthy 250-ish overclock. I don't really think I need to say more here.

Also, your memory may or may not be able to hit 250. Granted, PC 3500 is rated to run 217 mhz, but this does not mean that it cannot be overclock. Unfortunately, you are running Mushkin Level I, which is not bh-5. Hence, I cannot be positive as to your memory's maximum potential. However, I'd suggest you use the timings 2.5-3-3-7 and work the fsb up from there. Oh, an a modded bios cannot hurt, either. Here's a shot of my rig (using an older 2500+M) at 250 fsb with Mushkin Black Level II (Bh-5):

Hmm, I think I should be fine on power supply, since I have an Antec TrueControl 550W PSU. I will try working my way up to 250 FSB with those timings you suggested.

Oh yes, where did you get the modded BIOS for your DFI Lanparty NFII B? Is there a large difference over the official BIOS?
