So far I got that e8400 to 4050. Though speed step doesn't work, cpu reports under load 10c difference between cores. I have to wait for gigabyte's bios, maybe then situation will become clear.

Nice seems to be relatively the same voltage as what mine took at least when I got it stable. Gotta try lower on mine though. Whats your VID on the CPU?

I may as well jump in here.

I just ordered my E8400 from TankGuys. I purchased two mobos to try it in. A Giga X38 DQ6 and an IP35 Pro. I also grabbed 2x 1gb Dominator PC2 8500s, and 2x 1gb OCZ SLI ready PC2 8500 to try in the setup. I will test it caseless, with stock cooler, out in my un-heated garage, in the middle of NY winter.

I will run 2x 80gb Seagate HDD's in RAID-0 (40gb partition for O.S and apps, the rest for storage). It will all be powered, at first, by an Ultra XVS series 750 watt PSU. I will also use a cheapo X600 PCI-E card at first. I am really just curious what the chip, mobo and RAM will do. Not real concerned about graphics atm.

Once I make the decision which mobo and which RAM works best for me, then I will install it all in my main rig with the 620HX, AIW X1900, X-FI etc. etc.

Results in the coming weeks.

Additional Comment(s): Should be here around wednesday next week. My first Intel desktop CPU since my parents' Gateway with a 75Mhz Pentium! :beer:

It would be nice to include temps..
I see some of these cpu's getting pretty warm.

Additional Comment(s):
I've had this chip since Wednesday, should have been Monday but that is another story. This setup has been a real pain and I spent a good 10 hours troubleshooting various hardware trying to find stability at even stock settings. I was chasing phantoms and gremlins all over until last night when I discovered that the root of all the problems was the craptastic Abit uGuru.

Once I quit using the Abit software it has been pretty smooth sailing. Because of the problems I have been taking it pretty slow, really testing stability at every step but I can see where this will be an easy 4Ghz+ 24/7 setup. Another thing, the DTS on core 1 does not go below 41C and otherwise reads 6-8C lower than core 0.

EDIT: My settings are dual Prime95 stable for 10 hours now.

I'm picking up one of these once I get my tax return.. If I can wait that long. Also want another 2gb ram, a lapped TRUE, and my FREAKIN' mobo back from ASUS.
