Hi, i am planning to upgrade my rig to water cooling over summer. The main reason for doing so is the unbearable noise from my crossfire setup as well as the 80 degree temps i occasionally get under load.

My case can support 280mm, 120mm and a 140mm (possibly) radiators.
I have a AMD 6350 and two MSI R7870 twin frozr cards all of which will be all cooled in one loop

My list so far:
XSPC Acrylic Dual 5.25 Reservoir/Pump Combo with One 18w Laing DDC

XSPC EX120 Slim Line Single Fan Radiator

EK Water Blocks EK-FC7870 - Acetal + Nickel

EK Supreme LTX CSQ AMD CPU Waterblock : Nickel Acetal

i will also be using these fittings:
1/4" BSPP - 1/2" ID - 3/4" OD Compression Fitting
http://www.watercoolinguk.co.uk/p/1...ID-34andquot;-OD-Compression-Fitting_828.html

and this is my case:
Cougar Challenger

I want to do straight runs but might see if i can do it with soft tubing,

Any advice would be much appreciated, i'm new to water cooling

I think you are under radded. 3x120 for that quad AMD FX chip and 2 7870s? That is 4x120mm to me, especially if you are overclocking and want quiet.

Also, you can list the part name and the link so we dont have to click 8 times to see what parts you have listed. :)

Hi, thanks i have edited my initial post

i'm not planning to overclocking and by quiet i just it quieter than what i currently have.
if it is desperate i can possibly squeeze an extra rad in at the bottom of my case, just not sure how well it fit

how are the other parts?

Welcome to OCFs.

Please take the time on reading our water cooling guidelines to better understand water cooling and what it takes to maintain it as well as what is required to cool a system of yours. Your case isn't the best to work with for the amount needed to cool a setup like yours, especially in a quieter environment which requires more heat surface. If budget permitting I would sell that case and or grab a water cooling ready case that can hold say 120.3/120.4 worth of heat surface no issue at min. With that case you might be able to add 120.4 tops but not sure if the space and air flow supply will be adequate for said radiators. Too many things going on and unfortunately some modding might have to be done. I honestly would look for another newer design watercooling ready case. Look at the links you posted, assuming you're from the UK, might have a limited amount of cases I am talking about unless you buy it from the states I am not sure what your options would be.

it may not be the ideal case but it is the one my system has been in for the past however long and thats how i'd like to keep it tbh. i appreciate your advice but I would just like to work around the case rather than ditch it and spend more money .

I have asked around before and been told that without overclocking my case and rads will suffice, as far as i'm aware the case is watercooling ready, even supporting pre drilled holes

Fair enough. You'll just hang radiators outside of the case if that is alright with you. Make sure to maintain them and keep them dust free. Don't get me wrong this case is still usable. I wasn't sure if you meant that you wanted a silent system which in most cases folks keep it all internally. No worries, its very doable but it will have to be external. You don't have much room for a rad + fan setup in that case, especially the top. Alright, take your time and again read our stickies. Once you're done get back to us. Make sure to bring a list of said water cooling components and we'll work with you once you have that ready.

What we are trying to say is although you will see improvements in temps and noise, with the current setup of parts we are not convinced that the ends will justify the means. You are spending some coin to get quiet but you will need faster fans (more noise) to get temps worthy of water cooling.

Also something to note, 80C is fine for those cards... not an issue there.

okay, I'm fairly confident the existing fans i have will be capable of keeping cool and quiet. but i kinda wanted to know more towards the pump/res side of things?

also, i understand the temps are fine, i'm more wanting to kill the noise issue and as i've always wanted to water cool at some point because of looks and noise i thought i'd give it a go
