The 7900GT is $100 cheaper on the price i'm looking at but also slower than the 7800 GTX, but newer model. Is there a new better feature on the 7900 GT and should I get 7800 GTX for better speed? Pls help with any advices. Thanks.

Really? From alot of benchmark I check. The 7800 GTX seem to always out perform GT 7900 GT at stock setting on same system. When you refer 7800 GTX as worser than 7900GT do you compare it as the 256MB version right? Cause the 512MB version is surely outperform the 7900GT.

I'm still not sure which I should choose over, the 7800 GTX 256MB or 512MB seem to outperform 7900GT in every test, and they're $100 more expensiver. That's for a reason. Hope anyone can tell me more on the performance between these two, I'm leaning on the 7900GT because its newer and cheaper, but it's not faster. :(

I think if you leave everything at stock, the 7800GTX 512 would be a bit better. But the 7900GT overclocks like crazy, and when you overclock it, I think its at least on par with the 7800 if not somewhat better.

I'm not exactly sure what 7800GTX 512 scores on benchmarks, but I know just about any 7900GT you get will clock to 585-600 on the core and 900+ on the memory at stock volts. Thats good for 10K to 10.5K in 3dmark05. With the VERY EASY volt mods on the 7900GT, 700+ on the core is common and scores in 3dmark05 are 12K+ and 3dmark06 are 6600 to 7000 range.

Like I said, I don't know much about what 7800GTX 512 cards score, but i'm not sure if they are higher than 12K in 3dmark05. And if they are, I don't think its worth the extra $100 bucks or so for that little bit of extra performance.

If your going to spend $100 bucks more than the 7900GT, I would just get the vanilla 7900GTX which beats any 7800 card with ease, and its not that much more.

I picked up a Super clocked EVGA 7900GT 256

I think the speeds are 550-1580. To me thats pretty good for $350 at newwegg...thats also includeing a warrenty.

thats a nice card you got yourself, I bet you can hit 650/1650 with good cooling, +/- another 100 with some voltmods

You think so? How would I go about that. I upt theMghz of the PCI-E slot in Bios to 107mghz.

But where do you OC the card itself. Is there some Nvidia softwarepanel hat you can get to do this.

I've overclocked in the past. Just not GPU's

For the price the 7900gt is better. You can easily oc it to beat a 7800gtx 256 IMO.
I thought the 7900GT already comes with clocks faster than the 7800GTX. . . .

7900GT - 450MHz / 1320MHz
7800GTX - 430MHz / 1200MHz
