Hi, I am looking to upgrade my CPU to an AMD Phenom II X4 970 Black Edition. And I am sure on that CPU, it's just I need a motherboard and I am really stuck on which one to get. I have found two and one of them (the ASUS one) I read some pretty bad reviews about. And the Gigabyte one I read some pretty good reviews about. So out of these two I am pretty sure which one I would choose. But I would like some feedback on what everyone else though, if these both are bad and if any one has an suggestions. Or if I am wrong and the ASUS one actually is better...so I would just like some opinions. Also I am looking for something some what cheap (like less than $200.00)

The two MB's that I am looking at are the:
ASUS M5A97 AM3+ AMD 970

GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128514&Tpk=GIGABYTE 990FXA 990FX UD3

Also with that processor which I am hoping to overclock to possibly 4.3 Ghz (I have never overclocked before, but I am not worrying about that right now, I just need the parts to overclock safely) I probably need an aftermarket cooler and I would like the same as the MB, just some feedback and opinions on these two coolers and/or if these would be anything better.

These are the two coolers I am looking at:
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099&Tpk=212 evo
Thermaltake CLP0575 Frio OCK Universal CPU Cooler Ultimate OverClocking King
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...ords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-NA-_-NA

Any advice, suggestions or opinions are very appreciated.
Thanks, Clay

I'd go with the GA 990FXA-UD3, seems to be a really solid board, as well as a good mild overclocking board from what I have seen.

I'd also go with the CM Hyper 212, I have no experience with either, but it seems people are more satisfied with it as to the Thermaltake.

Which case did you have in mind?

Thanks for the feedback, I was actually thing the same as you. But I have the Thermal Take v9 blacx edition

No problem, anytime.

Yeah, I would think you might have some issues with space as well, if you had went with that Thermaltake cooler.

Yup, In was looking at the UD3 myself a while ago, it would be my current choice of mainboard if I were building an AMD rig for myself right now. There's some excellent reviews out there on it.
