WHS 2011, no access to drive after setting it as a backup drive

WHS 2011, no access to drive after setting it as a backup drive. Without WHS backup configured, I can click start, then Computer, and I'll see my two physical hard drives, both internal IDE connection. The issue here is that when I select my 2nd drive "D" as my backup drive... Windows makes it disappear from my computer. I know it will still do backups to the drive but why isn't it visible to access files, etc. IS there a way around this so that selected backup drives are visible? Thanks
