Why does my build get low memory scores on Geekbench?

Hey guys I have a few question about my memory and why it is relatively slow. Keep in mind when answering that I am a novice at building computers.
I will start of by showing to the parts in my build...


Amd Phenom II X4 960T
ASRock 970 EXTREME4
Case- COOLER MASTER Elite 430 RC-430-KWN1
Video Card-HIS iSilence 4 H667PS1G Radeon HD 6670
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM
PSU-CORSAIR Builder Series CX500 V2 500W ATX12V
OS-Windows 7 64-bit

I built this computer a few months ago, but once I installed windows and it worked I moved on to other projects. Now I'm back into computers and I want to know how to make it faster. My friend recently built a Hackintosh and he suggested running a benchmarkto see how fast it is. I used the same program he used which was Geekbench. I was expecting to get a lower score than him because he is running the i5 2500k processor which is superior, but wasn't planning on losing by so much! When I ran the test again while overclocking at 3.3 ghz and unlocking 2 cores on stock cooling( I have no idea how to overclock so I didn't go to overboard) our scores were about the same for the processor, but it seemed that my memory bandwidth score and memory performance score were bringing me down. I was thinking that maybe he got a higher score on memory because sandy-bridge is so good, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't make that much of a difference. I want to know why is it so low and how I can fix it. I'll be happy to answer any questions!

Edit: I do realize that the benchmark was testing 32-bit but he was also testing on the free version so it wouldn't matter. Also I know Geekbench is not the best program but that's what I'm using.

Yep, that's about right. The Thuban IMC, while it was strong for its generation from a relative-to-AMD perspective, wasn't very fast compared to Sandy Bridge; like, at all. Here are AIDA 64 graphs from our Ivy Bridge review: Read & Write speeds | Copy & Latency.

As you can see, the 1100T's latency is about the same as the 2500K, but its read, write and copy speeds are much slower.

Is there any way to speed it up?

You can overclock the CPU_NB, that's where the IMC lives.
It won't make a huge difference, but it helps scores.
