~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Again, Thanks for taking the time to allow me to interview you.
When did you join the Team? Approximate date is OK if you don't know the specific date.
09-14-09, 05:34 PM
If there was something recent that you did that you wanted your fellow team members to know about, what would it be?
Bought 10 GTX260s during the last month to help fend off EVGA for a little while longer. Sadly a EVGA GTX295 died, still waiting for it to return from RMA. I'm starting to suspect that they're sabotaging me :p
What is your EOC (extremeoverclockers) stats link? EOC
You do not have to give specifics (address), but what Part of the World do you live in, and if you don't mind telling, what town? (Town is not required, but if not a town, a general direction and distance from the nearest 'big town/city/country would suffice)
Zürich, Switzerland. Lake in the summer, mountains in the winter. It's pretty sweet here.
How did you initially hear about F@H?
When the GPU1 client for the x1900xtx was released. Thought it was a nifty idea and tried it out.
After starting, why do you continue to Fold?
At first I was impressed that you could run a program on your GPU. Also the animation viewer was pretty cool. Then by the time I upgraded to SLI'ed 8800GT I was addicted.
What do you do for a living?
Studying Physics at university. In my free time I do legal work for a local company.
What do you do for fun?
Gaming. Played a lot of MW2 and Shattered horizon lately. I also enjoy anything that has to do with water. Swimming, sailing, power-boating. With the mountains around, skiing is also a great weekend activity. Driving down to italy though the mountains is also great fun.
Is there anything special you do in your spare time that you really enjoy?
Thanks to lax gun laws spending an afternoon senselessly shooting stuff in the garden always lifts my spirits.
Of course there's also the usual going out, drinking and going to concerts.
Time to spill your guts. What are the stats of your main folding rig? Why is it your fave? What all do you use the rig for?
My main gaming PC. i7 920 D0 @ 4.0GHz, 3x GTX260. Awesome FPS and PPD.
I work on the only PC that isn't folding. Lenovo R500. I need it to have a long battery life and not burn my lap. :p
Do you have a Borg-Farm(Group of computers)? If so, how many computers, and what are they? (CPU, RAM)
I'm running 9 PCs in my folding farm:
i7 920 C0 @ 3.6GHz, 2x GTX260-216, 9800GT | Q9550 @ 4GHz, water cooled, 2x 9800GX2| Phenom II 940 @ 3.6GHz, 3x GTX260-216, 9800GT | Q9300 @ 3.2GHz, 2x GTX260-216 | E8400 @ 4GHz, 2x GTX260-216 | E5200 @ 3.6GHz, GTX260-216 | E5200 @ stock, GTX295, 9800GT, 8800GT (temp until GTX295 comes back from RMA) | T5600 @ 1.83GHz | PS3.
I used to borg other peoples machines, but my friends can't keep their PCs running consistently enough to be worth it. I need some proper nerd friends. :(
What are your future goals? What do you most want to accomplish with your life?
Finish university and get a doctorate in Physics. After that I'll see. Still a long way to go.
If there is something you want to tell the team, then spill your guts! What have I missed in my questions that could help the team learn more about you and who you are?
I joined T32 because my old team pretty much died. Folding with the big boys is great and I love it here.
A few Pics of your Farm, Hobbies, even you!:) Etc.
It's surprisingly hard to find a picture of me.
Best I could come up with. Guy on the left. Top of St. Gotthard Pass on my way to Italy with a couple friends.
Thanks for the Great Spotlight Sneaky...good to know more about you!:beer:
Glad your on Team32! Best of luck with your studies!:beer:
Great interview SneakySnowman! WTF!
Yes Switzerland is a Beautiful Place Spent , many months there in 1980 Skiing right where you are in that Pic and also loved my stay at Lake Lucerne
Thanks :bday:
So what type of weaponry do you fire?
Just what they gave me in the army. A SIG SG 550 rifle and a SIG P220 pistol. I've always wanted to pick up a shotgun, but aside from shooting and maintaining guns I don't know squat about them :( Guess I'll have to ask someone more knowledgeable for advice.
Used to have a bolt action .22 rifle as a kid, but we sold it a couple years ago
stay at Lake Lucerne
That's where I'm spending the holidays actually :)
sneakysnowman,
Good to learn more about you, thank you for your participation as a team member and wishing you the best in your studies & career! :salute:
-Dave, another great Spotlight! Thanks! :thup:
Very good read. It's nice to know a bit about the man who has been blowing by most of us like an overly built snow plow. This will be on the front page very shortly.
It's nice to see some more "young blood" infused into the Team. :) No offense to any "old blood"... I like you guys just the same. :D Lol... I'm having too much fun. :beer:
...and at the same time, like to think I'm younger than I actually am... :D
I need some proper nerd friends.
Don't worry man... most of my friends walk into my comp room and are just afraid to touch anything... which, to be honest, is how I like it. I get my true nerd fix by getting online and talking with you guys. :D
You've been a real influence on the Team snowman!!! I'm glad you decided to join us!!! :beer: It all falls back to my theory on Folding Team recruitment... the good people will find us, it's just a matter of taking a look. ;)
Yes thanks sneaky for all the donations for the contest! without you the contest would not have been a reality. I salute you sir for all your hard work and dedication.:salute:
