UnrealAlex said:What monitor do you have lets start with that.
If its 19" then the 320mb gts will be fine.
I have the 320mb and at 1440x900 it runs most games maxed out without hiccups.
The 640mb would not give you a HUGE fps increase, maybe 5-10 fps on higher resolutions, thats all I believe.
You can get the evga 320mb, see how it works for you, if you need something stronger then just step up to a GTX.
Ok rainless I'll find some links.
Oh crap I saw a VS and thought it was a question about 320vs 640, my badrainless said:I think you misread the topic. We aren't talking about the 8800 GTS640 vs. the 320. We're talking about the 8600GTS 256mb vs the 8800GTS 320. It's a different universe.

Yea get the 320mb, its worth it.
I was talking about 8800 GTS 320mb vs 640 the whole time =P I fail sorry
The 8800gts is a lot better, and it's worth the price difference.
Pssh, it's a technicality =Prainless said:Score another one for Team Rainless!
jheshka said:Can anyone tell me what the FPS difference would be on CS:S?
Apparently tomshardware doesn't have CS:S as a benchmark

Well, with the 8800gts, you can completely max out the settings and still get well over 60fps.jheshka said:Counter-Strike Source is a tiny bit more demanding than 1.6

I'd assume the 8600 would not be able to touch that.
at 1680x1050 I can't even get a consistent 40fps with a 6800gt on crappy settings.rainless said:But you really don't need an 8800 to play Counter Strike. You can play that with a 6600. Or maybe an x600. Or perhaps using only the power of your watch battery...
hmm well i run pretty much high settings at 1280x1024 with out the aa/af though and get over between 180-260fps with 7900GT KO(stock speeds).thideras said:Well, with the 8800gts, you can completely max out the settings and still get well over 60fps.

i am dling css right now.. but on WoW i get like 60fps on 1280x768 .. HD but one of mem sticks is bad so in Shattarah i get like hiccups.. i think 1g more then 2gs ram total dual chan will stop the hiccups right guys?Evilsizer said:hmm well i run pretty much high settings at 1280x1024 with out the aa/af though and get over between 180-260fps with 7900GT KO(stock speeds).
