890gx vs fx

Curious what other then integrated graphics is the diff. I read somewhere that 890gx can only run xfire in 8x/8x...but it states it has 2 16x pciE slots.....so I am confused.

The 890GX, as the 790GX before it, can only run 2x8-bit CrossFire. The same holds true for the 790X and, I assume, the 890X will be the same when/if it comes out. Most 790FX chipset boards have 3-4 16-bit slots but can only use them as 2x16 or 4x8 (I'm not sure how three cards are split). From what I've seen the 890FX boards are the same.


There are other PCIe cards that can use 16-bit, it's not all video ...
