P4 vs A64

The Athlon-64 is not in the same class as the p4... its not really geared as a desktop CPU even. The main point of a 64 bit cpu is that it can transcend the 32 bit cpu's 4Gb ram limitation. Instead of having a max of 4Gb of addressable ram, it can fully utilize 8gb of ram. How many home users are gonna shell out $500-800 for each stick of ram and get more than 4 of them? Seems like company's that do really intesive stuff (for example: design computer chips) could really go for all that extra ram to run their software though. And well, .13 micron, 512-1024 L2 cache, SOI, HT (by another name...) will also be nice to go along with the package for those of us who crave performance. And it should come right along with a 64 bit MS OS, although 64 bit Linux still owns M$. And if that isn't enough, the thing (its big brother) will SMP like a micro CRAY, allowing up to 8 cpu's each with up to 8 gb of ram.
